Dear Branford Community,

Welcome to the Branford Public Schools website. Whether you are a current family, a prospective resident, a staff member, or a community partner, I am grateful for your interest in our schools.

At Branford Public Schools, we believe that exceptional schools are built through strong relationships, a shared sense of purpose, and a shared commitment to continuous improvement. Together with our students, families, educators, Board of Education, and community partners, we are working to create learning experiences that ensure our students are prepared to face the uncertainty of the future.

Over the past several years, our District has made meaningful progress toward that vision. From the implementation of our Strategic Coherence Plan and Global Learning Competencies to becoming Connecticut's first municipal K–12 district to earn High Reliability Schools Level 1 Certification, we have strengthened the systems, culture, and instructional practices that support student success. At the same time, our long-range Master Facilities Plan is helping us reimagine learning environments that will serve Branford students for generations to come.

While we are proud of these accomplishments, we know that excellence is never a destination. It is a commitment to learning, listening, and improving every day. Our talented educators, support staff, and administrators embrace that responsibility through collaboration, innovation, and a relentless focus on helping every student grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

One of Branford's greatest strengths is its community. From our families and volunteers to our local businesses, first responders, libraries, civic organizations, and town leaders, we are fortunate to live and work in a town that believes in its public schools. Dr. Tranberg joined Branford Public Schools as Superintendent of Schools in July 2023. With more than twenty-five years of experience in public education, he has served as a teacher, department leader, assistant principal, principal, assistant superintendent, and superintendent. Prior to joining Branford, Dr. Tranberg served as Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction for the Darien Public Schools.

Dr. Tranberg is an active presenter who partners with school systems throughout the United States on topics including leadership, school improvement, collaborative teams, curriculum design, assessment, and high-quality instruction. His work emphasizes creating coherent systems that connect culture, teaching, and organizational effectiveness to improve outcomes for all students.

A published author with GIA Publications, Dr. Tranberg's professional interests include educational leadership, organizational culture, collaborative leadership, and the science of continuous improvement. He is committed to ensuring that every Branford student experiences engaging, challenging, and meaningful learning in an environment where they are known, supported, and inspired to access all that Branford has to offer.

Our Strategic Plan not only pays homage to the rich traditions and successful practices that define the Branford Public Schools, it also charts an ambitious course for the future and will serve as a robust blueprint, guiding our decision-making processes and steering our collective efforts toward the next level of achievement over the next five years. At its core, the Strategic Coherence Plan provides a clear focus and organizational coherence, instilling a sense of purpose that will propel our district's continuous improvement efforts.
